Dr Ashley is a graduate of the University of Queensland and has been practicing as a large and small animal vet since 1982. On graduation he moved to Berri, South Australia, where he worked for 4 years in a large mixed practice covering much of the Riverland and Mallee. He then moved to Sydney and worked with small animals and horses in a busy practice in Wahroonga. After a short stint in Coffs Harbour he moved to Mt Barker in 1988 and joined the Vet practice and after a short time Digby offered him a partnership. He is very proud to welcome his daughter Nina who has also become a vet, to the Mount Barker Vet practice

 

Ashley’s major interests lie in general small animal medicine and cattle and sheep production. He enjoys the variety of work the clinic offers and also meeting clients and developing relationships with them. Many of our clients are still bringing their animals to him all these years later. It is great as we now see their children and grandchildren with their animals as well.

 

When Dr Ashley is not working as a vet, he spends it mucking around with his wonderful grandchildren. He spends a lot of time with his horses and owns 2 Clydesdale crosses, one Clydesdale and a thoroughbred. His wife Lesley enjoys horse driving, and they go away camping with the horses quite a bit. He is still enjoying playing Clarinet in the Strathalbyn District Concert band and have done so for 25 years now. He loves living and working in the Adelaide Hills. At home he has various dogs including his favourite breed, a Cocker Spaniel, birds and horses,
